Emerging Star: A Conversation with Musician Knarik Nikoyan

We are pleased to present the Knarik Nikoyan interview, recorded during a recent episode of the Little Star program. Knarik is an exceptionally talented young musician, already celebrated as a laureate of multiple awards and recognized for her growing presence on major stages in Armenia and abroad.

Knarik began her musical journey at the age of six. Her interest in music grew naturally—she was drawn to the sound and atmosphere of violin lessons, which eventually became her main instrument. Later, her passion deepened when she joined a choir, making music an essential part of her life.

Knarik has already earned an impressive list of achievements:

  • 3rd place in a major competition in Yerevan
  • 2nd place in the Small Step competition
  • 1st place in the prestigious ArtMusic contest

Through her involvement with the Akne choir and Hayordats Tun, she has traveled widely across Armenia and several European countries, gaining valuable experience and exposure.


Musical Preferences and Academic Life

During the interview, Knarik described her listening habits. When alone, she prefers classical music, including works by BoccheriniSchubert, and Bach. In social settings, she enjoys pop music to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

At school, the 12-year-old musician enjoys all subjects, but she holds a special love for the Mother Tongue. She appreciates its depth and enjoys exploring its nuances, even though many consider it an easy subject.


Hobbies, Interests, and Inspirations

Beyond music and schoolwork, Knarik enjoys a variety of creative activities such as drawing and gardening, and she considers travel an important part of her life. When traveling, she often sketches the places she visits. Her favorite countries are Italy and France, which she admires for their culture, cuisine, and artistic traditions.

Knarik draws profound inspiration from world-renowned violinist Sergey Khachatryan. She recently attended his performance at the Technological Hall in Gyumri and was deeply moved by his commitment to sharing his art with children. She described him as an “example for young musicians,” motivating her to continue her path with dedication.

When discussing her ambitions for the next ten years, Knarik sees herself as an individual violinist who wishes to teach children how to play, listen to music properly, and follow the right artistic path. She also hopes to improve her singing skills and remain a dedicated member of the Akne choir.
